Effective July 1st, Washington will be the 18th state to exempt period products from retail taxes. The bill was unanimously passed by the State Senate on March 7th, 2020.

The exemption of the tampon tax in Washington is a major step towards ending period poverty, but now the Washington Tampon Tax Task Force, part of menstrual rights advocacy group PERIOD., is looking forward to executing the next step in their plan; Bill SB 6073 which aims to provide free menstrual products in public school bathrooms.
