As a way to fight period poverty, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario is now offering free menstrual products to their patients and staff.

When people need to resort to unsanitary measures because they cannot afford period products, they are putting themselves at risk for things like toxic shock syndrome, increased lower reproductive tract infections and outer skin infections. Not having access can also affect a person’s social life, work and academic life, and even their mental health.
